Jessica Wachs graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of South Bend with a Masters
degree in Social Work. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a
Minor in Special Education. Jessica has always enjoyed working with children from hard places and spent
nine years teaching second and third grades in South Bend School Corporation with inner-city children.
After seeing the effects of trauma on children, she decided to go back to school to obtain her graduate
degree in order to continue her work with children, but in a different capacity.
Jessica has spent the last five years focusing her practice and training specifically on children and
children’s issues including but not limited to: anger, ADHD, trauma, attachment, sexual abuse,
Oppositional Defiance, PTSD, grief and divorce. Jessica’s passion is working with children who have
endured trauma and using the curative power of relationships to inspire healing and growth. Jessica is a
licensed clinical social worker and is currently completing her Registered Play Therapist certification that
requires over 150 hours of specific training on utilizing play (the natural language of children) and play
interventions in the therapeutic process. Jessica has also been trained in EMDR therapy and will utilize
this in therapy sessions. Jessica specializes in children ages two to twelve, but will also see teenagers,
young adults and families.
